Kobeelya/Kobeelya Museum

Explore the rich history of Katanning by visiting Kobeelya, a prestigious building with roots dating back to 1902 when it served as the family home for Mr. F.H. Piesse, the town's founding father. Later used as a girls' boarding school, Kobeelya now belongs to the Katanning Baptist Church, offering accommodation and tours to the public. Additionally, visitors can explore the museum located in the former Coach House, showcasing an extensive memorabilia collection curated by the Old Kobeelyans' Association. Katanning Sale Yards


Tuesday and Wednesdays - Tours available on request

Opened in 2014, the Katanning Regional Sale Yards are the biggest undercover yards in the Southern Hemisphere. Sales are held on Wednesdays each week with preparation for the sale starting on Tuesdays.

Each week 26,000 sheep are moved through the yards.

Premier Mill Hotel

A cornerstone building in the center of town, the Premier Roller Flour Mill has been at the core of Katanning’s heart and soul since its foundation in 1891.

Its commercial success as a flour milling operation spanned for a couple of decades. Recently the building has been redeveloped into a Dome Restaurant, Bar and Luxury Hotel.

The Premier Mill stands out from other Restaurants with it’s original industrial fixtures and the essence of the building that has been maintained.

Katanning Historical Society Museum

Old Winery ruins

Warren Road (opposite the Mosque), Katanning

Step into history at the Old Winery Ruins, built in 1904 by AE Piesse to process grapes from the family vineyards. After ceasing operations, its wine-making equipment found a new home with the monks at New Norcia. Surrounding the ruins, the vines are remnants of the original vineyard. Today, under private ownership, this site stands as a testament to Katanning's past in wine making.

 

O'CALLAGHAN PARK

Experience the charm of O'Callaghan Park, once an old racecourse now transformed into a spacious, dog-friendly haven. Explore the fusion of local creativity and renowned street art along the Katanning Art Trail, where the Public Silo Trail meets imaginative transformations. In 2017, Katanning welcomed the Public Silo Trail, igniting a unique artistic evolution. Due to the absence of silo’s, Western Power transformer boxes and walls became the canvas for acclaimed street artists Brenton See, Chris Nixon, Darren Hutchens, and Mel McVee. Their captivating murals scattered across town infuse Katanning's art scene with energy. Dive deeper into the experience at the Information center, (located inside the Regional Retailers Building on Austral Terrace)where detailed maps and friendly assistance ensure an immersive exploration of this dynamic art trail.
